Caveat India

Section 69 of BNS

Section 69 of BNS or Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhitaย  provides up to 10 yearsโ€™ imprisonmentย  wherein a person engages in sexual intercourse with aย  false promise to marryย  which is to say the sexual activity was entered into with a woman by deceit.

Ingredients that need to be satisfiedย  are whether there was in reality a promise to marry and upon that promise sexual activity was consented to. In other words had there been no promise to marry the woman would not have consented to engaging in sexual activity which essentially means thatย  the consent was obtained by deceitful means.
